The name "Shikorina" means "sweetheart" or "sweetness" in Tigrinya, reflecting the warmth and care infused into every aspect of the business .


Shikorina is committed to sustainability and community, using 100% organic, fair-trade, and locally sourced ingredients. The cafe offers a variety of pastries, cakes, and beverages, with options catering to diverse dietary needs, including vegan and gluten-free selections .

Beyond its menu, Shikorina serves as a community hub, providing a safe and inclusive space for all. The business also offers a sliding scale pricing program to ensure accessibility to quality baked goods for everyone .
